They work to close gaps (up to 5mm) that would otherwise allow sound, light, debris, and smoke infiltration. We supply these seals for DIY fitting, or our team can professionally install them for you on hinged doors.

How do Door Bottom Seals work?

They are mechanically spring-loaded. It automatically lifts from the floor to allow easy movement and prevent scraping as you open the door. It then seals tight once the door has closed, meeting the requirements detailed in AS1428/1 (Design for Access and Mobility). The aesthetics, nylon push-fit end plates also ensure the longevity of the seal mechanism. Getting that seal-tight close relies on the seal being set correctly during installation — which is exactly what our installers calibrate for on every job, whether you’re supplying your own labour or ours.

This product can make a notable difference on your energy and living costs. As they reduce noise and air infiltration, heating and cooling systems can work more efficiently in their designated areas. The efficiency gain depends on a properly sealed fit — a loosely installed seal won’t close the gap it’s meant to.

The Building Code of Australia (BCA) confirms that this product can significantly assist in protecting your home or property from fire hazards. They help contain and control fire and smoke, improving the overall safety of the property to meet legislative requirements. For commercial buildings, schools, and medical rooms in particular, professional installation helps ensure the seal is fitted to actually meet that compliance standard, not just approximate it.

Installation tips for Door Bottom Seals

Do not cut the seal shorter than the lengths indicated below, or this will affect the regular operation of the internal mechanism.
Ensure that the installation of this product does not impede the opening or closing of the door.
It is recommended to check the adjustment of the door seal periodically to ensure the door assembly to which it is fitted, closes and latches properly.

What Extra Equipment Will I Need for Installation That’s Not Provided?

If this is a DIY project, you will need:

That’s a reasonable kit for a single hinged door. If you’re sealing multiple doors, working across a commercial or school site, or would simply rather not do the cutting and routing yourself, our team can supply and install the seals for you.

What is the difference between Face-fixed and Semi-mortised auto bottom seals?

Face-fixed: The seal is fixed to the face of the door bottom using the ferrules and mounting screws provided.

Semi-mortised: the seal is mounted into a 35mm deep x 14mm wide machined gap in the side of the door.

Are they compatible with any door structure?

Yep. They can be installed on any hinged door (inside or outside) as long as the gap is no more than 5mm and it is a single-action door.

What amount of noise reduction can I expect with this product?

Up to 35% of soundproofing, depending on the room size and correct installation.

Can Soundproof Warehouse install these for me?

We live on a main road & the noise from the cars & trucks is really load in our main bedroom at the front of the house , so we looked into trying to cut the noise down , done a little research & come across the Soundproof Warehouse , so they came out & inspected our front window , so what happened was after discussing our situation, they advised of installing another window inside of the existing window which has thicker glass & also created an air gap between the 2 windows , that also acts as insulation, this has cut down the road noise by 40 % , so very happy with this team , they done an excellent job & we’re very professional.

Good value and great service. I Purchased CSR Fibretex 450 'Rockwool' and some MLV tape and they provided fantastic service. Their pricing was equivalent to Bunnings for their product and cheaper than The manufacturer's trade centres!!. knowledgeable and great communication around pricing, technical specs of products and delivery to Adelaide. The man who attended the house to measure the windows was honest and professional. He told me about the walls and door in my old home will minimise the overall effectiveness. Even though this was the case it has made such a difference. So much so I have added another room that feels so peaceful now. We live on a major road by some traffic lights and the bedroom on that side of the apartment is very noisy with the original 1980's sliding aluminium windows. I ordered secondary glazing just before Christmas to try to cut down on the noise and help with the afternoon sun. They had the added bonus that because they are installed inside, you don't need body corporate approval. The installation too between 1-2 hours only and the guy that installed it was really nice. The first thing I noticed was that it completely modernised the look of the room. It also seems so much better quality than the dodgy aluminium windows we have. They glide smoothly, but at the same time feel a lot more solid. It's hard to know how much their installation has helped with heat. I just know that my son hasn't complained since we put them in. Sound-wise, it's amazing! It takes away all the higher pitch noises that disturb you and the room just feels quiet now. If I'm honest most of the noise that comes through I would guess comes from the next room and through the door rather than through the glass. My son is away at the moment and I slept in there the other night to see what it was like, and it really was a different experience. If you have the noise issues we do, I would definitely recommend them. I wish I could attach a video showing the noise level difference between two rooms next to each other! However Google insists a 24 second video is over 30 seconds long! Obviously our AI overlords aren't all they are cracked up to be!

Got a secondary glazing window installed in the main bedroom for noise reduction from the main road. Would highly recommend. Very friendly staff and owner. Positive experience with soundproof warehouse. Saw their videos online and reached out to have two secondary windows installed behind two bays of casement windows. Prompt responses and answered all of my questions from booking, quote and install. Price was what we budgeted and cheaper than competitor. And installed a month earlier than planned.
