How does this Marine Soundproofing product work?

This advanced marine soundproofing product works to absorb reflected sound waves that penetrate through its material at varying depths. The highly economical material effectively helps soundproof marine panels such as steel, fibreglass, aluminium and timber.

What makes Vybar the superior option?

VyBar® consists of a double-needle punched, 100% polyester fibre layer on one side, with a visco-elastic acoustic barrier and an aluminium foil on the other. This unique material construction results in high sound absorption. Unlike foam-based acoustic marine products that become powdery and break down over time, Vybar will not degrade over time as it is not affected by oil, water and hydrolysis. It also has exceptionally high resilience and compression loading capability.

Who is this product best for?

This product is ideal specifically designed for the marine industry, but is also suited to various industrial applications, such as:

  • Engine enclosures
  • Bulkheads
  • Partition walls
  • Plant rooms
  • Mechanical services rooms

Soundproof Warehouse offer certified and sustainable marine soundproofing solutions that will improve your leisure or working time at sea. PRODUCT FAQs

Is this product easy to install on my own?

Depending on the size and purpose of the area, yes. VyBar® is perfect for DIY boat enthusiasts as it’s easy to cut and install. Where airflow is required expert advice should be sought from our engineer, as acoustic baffles may be required.

What is the service temperature of this product?

-50℃ to 180℃ (no direct contact with heat source).

What are the different benefits of each VyBar® thickness/size?

The 10mm thick sheets have an equivalent soundproofing performance to conventional foam style products. They can also match the curves of the hull.

The 20mm thick sheets have an added barrier layer, which provides a higher soundproofing performance. Even with this added layer, it’s still around 25% lighter than conventional foam-based products.

Is everything provided for installation?

No, only the panels are provided.

Is this product usually in stock?

Yes.

Is there a maximum amount I can order?

No, order as many as you need!

INSTALLATION TIPS

  • VyBar® is easy to cut to size and install. Simply measure the area carefully and apply the measurements to the VyBar® with a black felt tip marker. We recommend increasing the measured area by 1-2 mm all around for a tight fit.
  • If you want to insulate the vessel against both sound and fire, we recommend using welded metal or bimetal pins. For soundproofing only, adhesive PVC pins are acceptable.
  • If there is a space between the VyBar® and the vessel surface, we suggest using a backing washer on the pin. We also recommend taping all edges and joints with reinforced aluminium foil tape.
  • If you are laminating the product with other materials, you should use fire-resistant glue for optimum safety.
